MULTIMERIDIJAN 14 / NO-ORDUNG Asteroid 19612
at MMC Luka Gallery and Anex Gallery / PULA (Croatia)
24.10.2014 - 10.11.2014

MULTIMERIDIJAN, a biennial project by the HDLU Istria, is an international exhibition of contemporary art, which over the past decade, since its founding in 2002, underwent several transformations, always retaining interest in meeting artists and artistic positions, and openness to different meridians with the aim of involving local artists in international context.

The exhibition presents different artistic positions and practices, and brings together the works of artists of different generations, originating from different cultural contexts. It brings together – starting with notable avantguard works of Antun Motika, Mario Merz and Fabio Mauri from the mid-20th century – collages, photographs, videos, drawings, installations, artists who in their works, through artistic imagination or research, question the idea of search and traveling, the vastness of the Universe, influence and imagery of a starry sky, its unknown vastness, technological achievements of humanity, failed utopias, relationship between man and nature, the need for experiment.

Exhibition *NO**-ORDUNG, Asteroid 19612*, devoted to Herman Potočnik Noordung, is the meeting point of different narratives. Geared toward the future, it turns back to the past, to traveling, research, observation... clarifying different stories, tales or histories through fragments of reality or fiction, iconography of science fiction, and the endeavors and expeditions or locations of (post)socialist utopia.

The exhibition is created as a poetic space, turned towards the experience, focused on the perception of the viewer, and finds historical and cultural context as a starting point of interest in the character and work of two perhaps insufficiently visible or recognized/able protagonists that are more or less successfully inscribed in the cultural memory of Pula - Herman Potočnik Noordung and Antun Motika.
